Free conference calls

Free conference calls - do you think it is possible in our world? Yes, it is. Some companies offer a completely free reservationless conference call or a completely free web-scheduled conference call. Some companies set the limits of participants able to join the audio conference call or its duration. But the limits are reasonable: the number of participants of the outbound conference call can be set as 20-100 persons, duration limit – 3-6 hours. I think people can hold a decent free conference call even with the above limitations.
Any catches? The outbound conference call companies claim that free conference calls are a marketing technique to attract potential customers to make use of other paid services provided by the company – some extra useful options are added. And if you check free conference calls details you will immediately realize that you should explore the paid services.
What are the reasons? Free conference calls have some significant limitations in addition to the limited number of guests you can invite to join and the duration of free conference calls. As a rule, you are not provided a toll-free dial-in phone number and your outbound conference call participants/ guests will have to pay for the long-distance calls. I do not think the people will be enthusiastic to take part in a conference call (that might last a couple of hours) and then pay a bill for phone services if that conference call was initiated by some other people.
Surely, it depends on the situation: if we talk about business partners I think they can agree on sharing the costs (but in the case of business people I do not think they will sacrifice comfort and convenience of the conference call in order to save a few dollars), but if you talk about some training courses their price will be much higher after the phone bill is paid. Anyway, to avoid some unpleasant situation, it is a good choice if the Administrator/ Moderator of the conference call bears all expenses.
